ATLAS (Aid To LGBTQ Asylum Seekers) was set up in August 2016 to specifically address the unique needs of LGBTQ refugees and asylum seekers in Greece and beyond.
We offer a single point of contact helpline staffed by our professionally-trained English, Arabic, French, Farsi and Greek speakers. We work through a referral system and have built an extensive list of contacts working in various locations and in various fields, in order to best assist refugees with their cases. Our helpline provides access to:
– Legal and asylum advisors
– Personal safety advice
– Accommodation providers
– Counselling services
– Medical help and sexual health education
– Free STD and HIV testing
– A safe space in Central Athens
– Education courses and social activities
Our helpline staff can be contacted via the following methods:
Phone/WhatsApp: +30 697 708 1273 for Arabic and English speakers (عربي / انكليزي)
+30 697 708 3801 for Farsi and English speakers (فارسی/ انگلیسی)
Through the helpline we have already aided over 50 LGBTQ people of 20 different nationalities in 7 countries. These include Greece (the mainland as well as islands such as Samos, Lesvos and Chios) as well as countries in North and West Africa and the Middle East.
